BATATA VADA
Batata Vada is a vegetarian fast food dish native to the Indian state of Maharashtra. A simple creation involving a deep fried potato patty with some coriander and spices. It originated as cheap street food in Mumbai, but is now offered in stalls and restaurants throughout India.
Serving - 2 persons
Preparation time - 1 hour
Cooking time - 30 minutes
Ingredients - 300 grams Medium sized potatoes
200 grams gram flour
1 tsp Coriander powder
1/4 tsp Red chilli powder
1/4 tsp Garam masala
1/4 Dry mango powder
4-5 Green Chillies
5-6 curry pattas
100 grams Coriander leaves
1 inch long piece Chopped ginger
Refined oil to fry
Salt as per taste
Method - Firstly boil the potatoes in the cooker.
Take gram flour in a bowl add water to it along with coriander
leaves,green chillies ,salt and other masalas referred above.
Mix the ingredients well and whisk the batter. Keep the batter to rest for 10 minutes
Peel the boiled Potatoes and mash them by adding Coriander - powder,red chilli powder,mango powder,gram masala,green
chillies,ginger and salt into the mixture,mix it well.Make 10 balls
from the mixture.
Take a wok add oil.Take a potato ball dip it into the gram flour
batter and put the balls in the frying pan.Fry them until they
turn brown in colour. Take an absorbent paper and take out the batata vadas on it.
FOR DRY PEANUT CHUTNEY
Ingredients
50 grams-peanuts
1 spoon-mango powder
Salt-as per taste
Method
First dry roast the peanuts and grind them by adding
mango powder and salt.Now take a wok add 1/2 spoon
oil and roast the powder for 3 to 4 minutes.
Your dry peanut chutney is ready.
Serve your batata vadas with pavs and peanut chutney.
Ohhh, I dont use mango powder in that chutney.. I will try this version soon
