Mawa Gujiya
Mava Gujiya is one of the most popular Sweet in India specially on the festival of Holi!! Holi is a festival of colors and without
Sweets its incomplete,so to fill this festival with joy and festive mood Gujiya is going to be a perfect choice for celebration!!
Ingredients - For the dough
All purpose flour- 2 cups
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
For stuffing -
Mawa (khoya) - 250 grams
Desiccated coconut - 100 grams
Roasted semolina - 2 tbsp
Castor sugar - 1 cup
Green cardamom(powdered in a mortar -pestle)3-4 pieces
Chopped dry fruits - of your own choice
Oil or ghee - for frying
Method - Take a bowl put all purpose flour, salt,ghee and rub
the powder with your palm so that the ghee should
get mixed up properly with the flour. Now take the
normal water and knead the dough.The dough
should be little hard not too soft.Keep this dough to
rest for 30 minutes in a moist kitchen cloth.
For the stuffing - Take a wok crumble and grate the khoya and stir it till it changes its color.
Now add sugar and green cardamom
in it. Then add desiccated coconut and mix well
for 2 to 3 minutes and switch off the flame.
Put the ready mixture in a bowl and add dry
fruits in it keep aside and let it get cool.
Divide the dough into two parts roll each part
in your palms to make balls and place balls in
the same bowl cover with moist kitchen towel.
Dust the rolling board with the lightly some
flour. Roll each ball with the help of a roller and
make small circle. After that take a gujiya mould
place the ready small circle on it , take 1.5 or 1
tbsp of the khoya filling on one side of the circle,
spread some water with your hand on the edges
of the circles and carefully close the mould gently
press the edges. Trim the extra edges and take
take the gujiyas out from the mould and deep fry
them in hot ghee or refined oil .Turn them
carefully and deep fry till the gujiyas become
golden in color. Drain on kitchen paper tissues.
